Ali + Jake | Element Detroit at The Metropolitan + The Monarch Club Wedding

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

Ali and Jake’s beautiful wedding day was a fun-filled day with their closest family and friends.

Heading back to where I captured their engagement photos, the Monarch Club was the perfect venue for their intimate wedding day. Hosted inside the historical Metropolitan Building along with the Element Detroit by Westin Hotel, Ali and Jake celebrated their day in true Detroit elegance.

Ali was calm and excited for her wedding day. Everything from her dress to her accessories was stunning! Even more special was Ali shared how she was incorporating sentimental details, like a sixpence in her shoe and a beautiful family heirloom, her great grandmother's ring.

Once ready, she shared a first look with her Dad, Jon, where she gave him a sweet letter and handkerchief. A few tears and lots of hugs were shared. Ali is the only daughter in her family, so this was a very special moment for her and her Dad; you could feel how much it meant to have these memories captured.

We then had the bridesmaids all get together for some fun photos on the patio. The Monarch Club is the tallest bar open to the public so the rooftop views are an amazing way to see the city. Ali’s Maid of Honor, Lauren, was an absolute gem! She made sure anything that needed to be done was handled and the day was carefree for Ali. Meanwhile, Jake and his groomsmen were having fun taking pictures in Parker’s Alley and around the city.

The first time Ali and Jake saw each other was as Ali walked down the aisle. With the look of adoration and excitement on their faces, Ali and Jake’s ceremony was filled with heartfelt moments together. After the ceremony, we gathered all the family for portraits. If this past year has taught us anything, it is that the time we spend together with loved ones is what matters most and it is something that I feel passionate about capturing as much as possible. They were also toasted to by family and friends with words of wisdom and thoughtful speeches.

We then snuck off for some photos of just the bride and groom. Ali and Jake needed no prompting, they were enjoying soaking everything in together, which made it so fun to document! I made sure to take a polaroid photo so they had a wedding day polaroid to match the one we took at their engagement photos. From the rooftop, Ali and Jake could see their old apartment and it was a beautiful full-circle moment for them as a couple.

Wishing them a wonderful future together and many happy memories in the years to come!

All my love,
