Kristy + Daniel | Detroit Rooftop Elopement | Detroit Elopement Photographer

Updated: Apr 26, 2022

Kristy and Daniel's downtown Detroit elopement was filled with beautiful, heartwarming moments and I am so excited to share a peek into their day. Kristy met Daniel at a Christian conference and God is central in their relationship. The day started at an AirBnB in Brush Park, Kristy looked stunning and all the details turned out beautiful, she even designed her own engagement ring. After getting ready, Kristy prayed with her father, virtually, and while her family is in Canada it was still so special they were able to share that moment on such an important day. Daniel arrived shortly after and his big smile said it all, he was excited for the day.

Friends and family were able to watch virtually, as they exchanged personalized vows and tied three cords symbolizing their bond together and with God. After they sealed their commitment with a kiss, they shared a dance, cut their red velvet wedding cake, which is Daniel's favorite, and popped some champagne! Kristy's dad made a toast to the couple and it was a beautiful moment to witness. Thanks to a friend, they were able to take a romantic ride off into the sunset in a vintage 1940's Buick and we were able to finish the day capturing some fun photos at the Z lot. After spending the day with Kristy and Daniel, their tender love for each other is apparent. Daniel was so attentive, even helping Kristy with her dress and seeing their excitement to start their life together reminded me of my husband and I on our wedding day.

I love to hear the stories behind every couple's wedding planning because everyone has such different experiences and incorporates their special details differently. Kristy and Daniel will be having a larger celebration with friends and family next year, but their June 12th, 2021 date is very special to them. Their wedding date also marks the 54th anniversary of the 1967 United States Supreme Court ruling Loving v. Virginia, which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws in the remaining 16 states. Anti-miscegenation laws were state laws that banned interracial marriage. June 12th is now known as Loving Day, named after Richard and Mildred Loving and changed the lives of millions, including Kristy and Daniel.

I cannot wait to capture them with all their friends and family next year and celebrate this amazing couple again!
