TAYLOR + ZACH | MISSION POINT, MACKINAC ISLAND WEDDING | MICHIGAN ELOPEMENT PHOTOGRAPHER

Updated: Feb 23, 2021

This Mackinac Island wedding at Mission Point Resort was not what you would expect. It wasn't beautiful. It was absolutely gorgeous. It wasn't warm and tropical. It was breezy and filled with sunshine. It wasn't slow-paced. It was laid back and wonderful. It wasn't filled with love. It was overflowing with love from every seam. It was evident in every interaction that their families and friends love them unconditionally.

Taylor and Zach had originally planned to elope to California; however, the pandemic changed their plans! Instead, they decided to get away to Mackinac Island. It was the perfect destination wedding that felt like you were hundreds of miles away but closer to home. The pace of life on the island is much slower and it allowed for a calm, yet wildly fun day!

I absolutely loved documenting each moment, from their quiet tender moments with soft touches to their loud and crazy moments screaming with joy with their friends. When talking with Taylor and Zach before their wedding, there were three main things that they wanted to focus on for their wedding day. I want to share these with you as I think it is great advice for any couple before they get married. Number one, remember to relax and breathe. They did just that through each moment and emotion of the day! Number two, don’t worry if everything goes as planned. This is such an important element to remember! There were little elements that did not fall into place as they should but they both just shrugged it off and carried on with enjoying the day. And finally, number three, my favorite, enjoy the day with your best friend. Taylor and Zach enjoyed each moment, hand in hand, and it was so apparent with each interaction that they’re not only lovers and partners, but they’re best friends!

I loved the beautifully crafted, hand-selected details from their day. I loved the sentimentality threaded through each element to highlight their love and remember loved ones. I loved the way Zach looked at Taylor walking down the aisle. It's every girl’s dream! I loved their heartfelt vows filled with laughter and tears. I love that Zach's cousin officiated their ceremony. I love that their relationship can be tender and soft, or goofy and lighthearted. I loved the speeches given at their wedding that told the story of them, from when they met to where they're going to go in their relationship from their wedding onward. Taylor’s best friend gave the best, heartfelt speech. And Zach’s twin brother gave an incredible speech as well filled with moments of pure laughter and moments filled with tears. I could go on about all the special moments and sweet interactions that I love, but I'll let the photographs tell you the rest.

Here's a look inside of Taylor and Zach's adventure and a highlight of their special day!
