Elle + David | The War Memorial Wedding | Metro Detroit Wedding Photographer

Updated: Jul 21, 2022

It was a beautiful day celebrating this sweet couple, Elle and David. If they look familiar, it's probably because you recognize them from their at-home engagement session last year. I was so excited to be back in Grosse Pointe capturing them again on their special day.

Their day started with them getting ready with their closest family and friends. Elle was surrounded by her mom, sisters, and closest friends. They were such a fun group! They played music, danced, and had so much fun getting ready together. Meanwhile, David was hanging out with his guys until it was time to meet Elle for the first look. They met on the steps of The War Memorial for this special moment and there were a few happy tears shared. I loved that they wrote and read letters to each other during this time. Since they were having a traditional ceremony they didn't write their own vows, but this allowed them to still speak to each other from the heart and it was so sweet to witness. Once Elle and David had their moment together, the wedding party joined us as we explored The War Memorial grounds and library. Thankfully, despite a bit of rain during the rest of the day, the weather held out for the time we needed to be outside. Elle and David's friends were so much fun and were great at assisting the couple throughout their day. I loved seeing the shared friendship between everyone.

After capturing their portraits, it was time to head to Grosse Point Academy for the ceremony. Elle's mom and sister helped get her veil on and her dad walked her down the aisle to her groom. The best moment of the ceremony was after they exchanged rings, they were so excited they thought it was time to kiss the bride so Elle went in for the kiss. Father Bilot gently reminded the couple there was still a few moments left in the ceremony before announcing them husband and wife, but everyone had a good laugh. Once they did finally get their kiss, there was no hiding their excitement for it to be official. David was showing off his new bling as they made their way up the aisle and it was so special to see the joy on both of their faces.

Once we finished documenting their family portraits at the Academy, we headed a few minutes down the street to The War Memorial once again. Elle and David's details looked so elegant and timeless. The classic whites with greenery and gold looked stunning. I loved the little personalized details like the custom wax seal and customized ring box. DJ Fury was awesome and had the party going from the start! He had everyone wave their napkins in the air for the exciting grand entrance and it really set the tone for the fun to come.

David's best man had everyone roaring with laughter throughout his speech and Elle's step-father led the blessing for dinner. Elle and David's first dance was so sweet watching them interact, giggling, and be so loving with each other. Once the special dances were finished, everyone hit the dance floor and I mean everyone! From kids to grandparents, everyone was ready for the party!

I feel honored Elle and David chose me to document their day! Elle said that once I arrived she was able to relax and enjoy every moment, which is the highest compliment I could receive. I take pride in providing an enjoyable experience for my couples, I am not just there to snap some photos. Every couple is treated like a friend, because they are, and I am grateful to every couple who trusts me on their wedding day.

Congratulations, Elle and David! Wishing you many years of fun memories in this next season of life together!
