Janelle & Tom | Ovation Infinity Yacht Charters Wedding | Detroit Wedding Photographer

Updated: Dec 6, 2022

On a breezy August day, Janelle and Tom sailed the Detroit River with their closest friends and family on the Ovation yacht to celebrate their next chapter as husband and wife. After meeting at a Hungry Howie's years ago, they were excited to finally make their commitment to each other official.

The day began quietly in downtown Detroit at the Motor City Casino Hotel with Janelle getting ready with her maid of honor, Amy. Janelle was glowing in her A-line Lillian West gown and chose a bracelet that was her grandma's as her something blue. Tom got ready with his best man, Evan, and was also joined by some nephews who were the ring bearers. Janelle and Tom wanted to share their first look privately in their wedding suite, where they also shared their own vows with each other. It meant a lot to them for this moment to be intimate and special for just the two of them. After commemorating the moment, we headed down to the riverside to begin getting ready for the ceremony.

The smile on Tom's face seeing his bride walking down the aisle was so sweet. His face lit up and was filled with joy as she made her way to him. Their yacht captain officiated their ceremony and after the exchanging of rings and a kiss, Janelle and Tom were announced husband and wife. Following the ceremony, everyone stepped aboard the Ovation to enjoy lunch and dancing while sailing under the pastel blue skies. We traveled along the river, under the Ambassador Bridge, and around Belle Isle. From the boat, we were able to see the spot on-shore where we captured Janelle and Tom's engagement photos at the Riverwalk last summer and were able to take a photo on the boat in the same place. It was a full-circle moment!

Before lunch, Amy and Evan both shared great speeches about the couple with everyone. Evan had everyone laughing and since they have been friends for over 20 years, it's safe to say he knows Tom pretty well. Once the cake was cut, the bride and groom mingled with their guests before we went out to the bow to take in the view. It was important to Janelle and Tom to spend time with every one of their guests. They wanted to ensure a good time was had by all and personally thank everyone for celebrating with them.

As we floated beneath the Ambassador Bridge, Janelle and Tom danced as husband and wife to Perfect by Ed Sheeran. This is always an emotional song for me because it was also my first dance song with my husband. Seeing a couple so in love also share that moment together brings back wonderful memories from my own wedding day. I hope they remember their first dance moment as fondly as I do mine over five years later. The boat turned shortly after and revealed a beautiful view of the entire city of Detroit. Despite being so windy that Janelle's veil almost ended up in the water, everyone had a great time dancing on the top deck and it was beautiful to see everyone that loved them surrounding Janelle and Tom as they shared the last dance of the day together.

Congratulations Janelle and Tom, my wish is you enjoy many, many years of wedded bliss!

All my love,
