Janice + Jack | Backyard Intimate Elopement | Michigan Elopement Photographer

Updated: Oct 29, 2022

Janice and Jack's intimate backyard wedding takes us to Perrysburg, Ohio where their closest friends and family joined them for a summer celebration of their love. It was a beautiful day of blending cultures, traditions and celebrating the next part of their life together. Janice and Jack created an ethereal floral disco ambiance with all homemade decor that combined mystical whimsy with the small-town feel of Perrysburg. The couple mentioned that being in Perrysburg felt like being in Stars Hollow, the fictional location of one of their favorite shows, Gilmore Girls. It is a homey little town that was the perfect backdrop for a day with everyone they love.

To begin the day, Janice and Jack met for a first look before we adventured around Perrysburg. Janice looked beautiful in her vintage wedding dress and veil. Jack complimented her perfectly in his grey suit and fun tie. Janice and Jack chose to exchange vows privately before the ceremony so they could focus solely on each other and the words of commitment they shared. It was a beautiful moment to witness and it all took place suitably right beneath the "Peace Tree" at Hood Park in downtown Perrysburg. We then explored more of the historic downtown area including Angel 101, which is a flower and gift shop. Since floral was a theme of Janice and Jack's day, it was perfect the staff saw the bride and groom walking around town and invited us inside to cool off and capture some photos in their shop surrounded by beautiful flowers. Janice loves flowers and made all of her own flower arrangements for the day. She was excited to feature the pastel unicorn baby's breath from Trader Joe's in her bouquet, keeping with the whimsical vibe.

The ceremony was led by Jack's dad and took place in the backyard of their temporary home-away-from-home weekend rental. I loved the fun decor of pink feather plumes, disco balls, white roses, and eucalyptus and the significance in the details. Janice's ring is a family heirloom from Jack's grandmother and it was so special to see how important family was to them. They ended their ceremony with the Jewish tradition of breaking the glass. While this tradition has come to have many meanings over the years, for Janice and Jack, it is a reminder that no marriage is perfect and a symbol that by breaking the glass, the couple's marriage will never break. For their reception, everyone gathered at a long table elegantly decorated with candles, flowers, and dainty gold details. It was a dreamy midsummer night and an enchanting ending to a beautiful day!

Congratulations, Janice and Jack! I wish you many years of happiness and lovely summer nights together!
