Caitlin and Sami's downtown Detroit engagement session started at Parker's Alley, right near Shinola. This was my first time meeting them and I instantly knew it was going to be a great session! Even before we met, I knew that they were an easy-going couple since the forecast called for rain, but they were down with whatever the weather had in store! I got the vibe right away when we met that they were best friends, which makes sense since they've been great friends for almost a decade, and together for close to six years!
After walking across Woodward and stopping at The Belt for some photographs, we headed up to the Z Lot. They hadn't seen the view of Detroit's skyline from that perspective yet, so I was glad we went up to see it. While I was documenting them, there was lots of laughter and it was evident how sweet, gentle, and loving of a couple they are. Whenever I'd set back to get a wider angle, they'd talk amongst themselves and giggle. It made me smile!
It was wonderful to document them in Detroit too because they love the city! They've moved around a bit but Detroit is where they always come back to and love hanging out there. I loved hearing about their memories in the city and also learning more about how they got engaged. Sami proposed in Zion National Park, and it truly was a surprise!
To finish our session, we headed to the Detroit Riverwalk. It turned out to be a beautiful fall day, with no rain, and the perfect temperature. I captured them as the sunset, creating the most beautiful golden clouds. Not only did Caitlin rock her adorable dress from Lulus, she also had the cutest fall outfit for their riverwalk photographs. I loved it!
Documenting these two felt like an evening out with old friends and I was honored to capture their sweet interactions. Caitlin and Sami, I wish you all the best as you continue your journey together and tie the knot in 2023!
