Erin and Michael are one of those couples that remind you of how sweet love can really be! If you haven't seen their Downtown Detroit engagement session, be sure to check it out to learn more about this amazing couple. You might remember Erin and Michael aren't originally from the Detroit area and while their family and friends were in town for their wedding, they wanted to show them the best of the city. This brings us to The Gem Theatre, one of my favorite Detroit buildings and one of the many historical event venues in the city. While I eagerly awaited the day to celebrate this special couple and return to this beautiful venue, it was bittersweet as it was also the last wedding of the season for Nicole Leanne Photography so there was lots of celebrating in the day ahead. Erin and Michael started their wedding day by getting ready at the Book Cadillac Hotel. They incorporated various vintage pieces and accessories that tied into the elegant, glamorous feel of their wedding. Once the bride and groom were dressed to perfection, they made their way to meet each other for their first look. They met inside the hotel on the grand marble staircase, and how excited they were to see each other was precious. Once they had a moment to soak in the sight of each other, we loaded up on the party bus with the wedding party to capture them in the city they now know as home. It was active downtown as it was a beautiful weekend with mild weather and the trees were putting on a beautiful display of fall color. We stopped off at the Detroit Institute of Arts, which is not only known for having one of the largest art collections in the county, but it is also a very popular place for photos, and for good reason! The marble columns and steps with the contrasting black suits and dresses looked exquisite. Erin and Michael, joined by their wedding party, looked as though they had just stepped off the pages of a wedding magazine.
Next, we headed off to the Gem Theatre to get ready for the ceremony. Before walking down the aisle, we snuck off for a few photos to capture Erin and Michael in the theatre seats and surrounded by the historic opulence. When you choose a wedding venue like the Gem Theatre, you take every opportunity to capture as much of the experience as possible. After the ceremony, everyone enjoyed cocktail hour and Erin made some wardrobe changes. She took off her long train and veil and added elegant pearl-embellished gloves. I loved how she switched it up and incorporated different accessories for her after-ceremony look. As the sun began to set, we went outside so the newlyweds could have a few moments alone and take in the scene. Sunset portraits are one of my favorite times to capture a couple on their wedding day because it is usually after the ceremony and they're officially married. It's a great time for the bride and groom to take a moment together to soak in the day so far.
For their grand entrance, Erin and Michael walked in off of the stage and shared their first dance. They have some impressive skills on the dance floor and their first dance together included beautiful spins and twirls like out of a movie. Erin and Michael's wedding was such a fun atmosphere and what made it even more fun was all of their friends and family eager to celebrate them and their love.
Congratulations, Erin and Michael! I hope you enjoy a lifetime of love and happiness together!
