Julia and Ryan's Circ and Root Ann Arbor wedding day was filled with memorable moments, heartfelt vows, and roaring 20s elegance. If you missed their engagement session, get to know the couple more and check out their sunset session on Belle Isle.
From the start I could tell Julia and Ryan put a lot of thought into the details of their day. The Circ and Root has an art deco-styled interior that the couple incorporated into their details and aesthetic for the day. Along with many family heirlooms that represent how important family is to both of them, like Julia's handkerchief, pins, and necklace. Julia's mom even grew all of the flowers used for the wedding, which were then styled by Flora Rae.
Julia's mom helped her get into her beautiful dress and her maid of honor helped her with her delicate lace veil so that she was ready for her first look with Ryan. The bride and groom met on the rooftop for their first look and wrote their own vows to share privately. This moment was so special and filled with lots of emotions. After spending time with Julia and Ryan one-on-one, we headed to The Root to capture the speakeasy cellar atmosphere for some of their portraits. The wedding party was excited, ready to go, and a lot of fun to capture together with the bride and groom. It was game day in Ann Arbor so we channeled all that enthusiasm into the photos and it was such a good time. There's nothing like a Saturday in a college town!
When it was time for the wedding ceremony to begin, both Julia's dad and stepfather walked her down the aisle. The officiant was their long time best friend, who I will have the honor of documenting next year as well for her own wedding. Julia and Ryan's dog Sanza joined for the ceremony as well and was such a good girl for the entire day. Once the couple said "I Do" and began to make their way back down the aisle as newlyweds, they were showered in dried flower petals and cheers of celebration.
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour on the rooftop where they could soak in the beautiful fall day and sunshine. Inside the reception area, the wedding decor was a classic combination of crisp white linens, gold accents, floating candles, and greenery. Julia and Ryan made their grand entrance and thanked everyone for joining them on their special day. Julia's dad gave a heartwarming speech that made even me tear up. He focused on the importance of family and shared how he never had to talk to Ryan about loving his daughter because he could tell Ryan was genuine in his intentions with Julia from the very beginning.
After all the speeches and toasts, we snuck away for some golden hour photos on the roof before joining everyone again to get the party started. There were the traditional family dances and a dance floor group photo to get things going.
To end the evening, everyone received glowsticks and kept the party going on the dance floor. All of Julia and Ryan's friends and family were such a fun group to capture! Congratulations, Julia and Ryan! I am wishing you a lifetime of love and happy memories together!
