Their wedding day was another picture-perfect day in Downtown Detroit. Although it was a little overcast after a drizzly morning, there was nothing that could stop this beautiful couple from shining on their special day.
After spending the morning getting ready at the Renaissance Center, they met in a secluded alleyway for their first look. Detroit offers a blend of nature and urban landscape that is unlike anywhere else. They are so sweet together and I loved documenting their first moments seeing each other. After taking each other in and having a moment together, we ventured around downtown with their wedding party before heading to The Guardian Building. If you are not familiar with Detroit, The Guardian Building features beautiful historical art deco architecture and is where the bride and groom will be celebrating with guests later in the evening. The Guardian Building fit their style perfectly, even the lace on her wedding dress was an art deco design. As a National Historic Landmark, the Guardian Building is known for blending Native American, Aztec, and Arts & Crafts influences in its architecture. For me, it's the intricate mosaic tile work and stained glass that really make this one of the most unique buildings in Detroit. After a twirl and touring around the historic building, we headed off to the ceremony.
Their ceremony was a traditional ceremony at Ss. Peter and Paul Jesuit Church. Her father walked her down the aisle and it was finally time to make it official and say their "I Dos." They incorporated some family heirlooms into their details of the day. The handkerchief the bride held with her bouquet for the ceremony belonged to the groom's great grandmother and her bracelet was one her mom received as a baby gift when she was born.
Back at the Guardian Building, guests enjoyed cocktail hour surrounded by the colorful walls and the arched vaulted ceiling. The tables featured towering centerpieces of white florals and greenery with hanging glass spheres. Each detail was exquisite and you felt as though you stepped into a piece of living artwork. After making their grand entrance and cutting the cake, it was time for their first dance as husband and wife. After dinner, both they shared with their parents and it was so sweet! He even included a dance with his Grandma. Afterward, it was time to officially get the party started, open the dance floor and you can tell by the smiles and dance moves that everyone had a great time! Congratulations, to the new Mr and Mrs! Wishing you many blessings for a beautiful next chapter together!
