A gorgeous day in Detroit brings us downtown to The Madison for Erica and Tanner's wedding day. Erica and Tanner are a chill, relaxed couple who wanted their day captured as candidly and with as much emotion as possible. No problem here, I definitely teared up during their ceremony. Erica started her day getting ready with her sisters at an Airbnb and I have to say, Erica's dress is one of the most stunning wedding dresses I've seen in my 10 years of photographing weddings. The delicate pearl and embroidered details were so beautifully done.
Erica and Tanner met in Grand Circus Park across the street from The Madison for their first look. Tanner's expression said it all, he was blown away when he saw his bride. Despite a Tiger's game happening downtown, the park was quiet and the perfect spot for the bride and groom to share some time together before the ceremony. The couple's wedding party was a small group of close friends so we ventured around the city and Tanner was keeping us all laughing every step of the way.
We headed to the rooftop to get ready for the ceremony where the city ambiance floated from below and filled the rooftop with the classic sounds of summer in the city. Erica and Tanner spoke beautiful words of love and it was a heartwarming ceremony. It's not uncommon I get a little misty-eyed during my couple's wedding ceremony, I love weddings and it's why I dedicate my work to capturing them, but Erica and Tanner's ceremony just got me a little more emotional than usual. After the bride and groom sealed their vows with a kiss, everyone enjoyed cocktails on the rooftop before making their way into the loft for dinner. The loft was adorned with chic black and gold details but was wholly welcoming with the donut wall and cute succulents at each table for favors. Erica's sister and Tanner's best man both shared their toasts to the couple that was equally touching and hilarious.
After dinner, it was time to get the party started! Erica and Tanner shared their first dance on the rooftop with the sunset glowing between the buildings. It was a joy to watch them have so much fun, laughing and spending time with their closest friends and family. Everyone danced the night away as the sun sank behind the skyline and it was another picture-perfect evening in Detroit.
