This sunny summer engagement session at Stony Creek Metro Park was so fun and relaxed. If you are looking for a perfect natural environment for your photographs in Metro Detroit, Stony Creek offers a variety of scenery, including woods, fields, and beaches. When photographing couples I love to get a variety of photographs, including documenting different emotions and locations. I also aim to incorporate couples' interests, hobbies, or passions into their photographs.
Hannah and Jeff decided that the most significant thing that they could incorporate into their photographs was their dog, Potter. Potter was recently and unexpectantly rescued and I could tell by watching them interact with each other that there is so much love there. Potter's tag says "Who rescued who?" and I think that's perfect! My husband and I have a rescue pup as well. I think that just as much as an owner rescues a dog, the dog provides so much love and joy to the owner that it makes you truly wonder, who rescued who?
But, back to Hannah and Jeff! It was a beautiful evening filled with laughter. I tell my couples before their session not to stress about posing or how they are going to look in photographs. I keep my couples constantly interacting with one another so that it is relaxed and comfortable. My desire is for their focus to be on one another, not on me or my camera. I truly believe that it is my job as a photographer to direct my couples in a way that makes them feel natural, confident, and comfortable when I'm documenting them. So, we totally had fun with it! They danced around, giggled, whispered sweet nothings, and even got their feet wet on the beach at the end. I love the light-hearted splashing, so playful!
