Michaela and Todd’s engagement session could not have been more perfect! I met them on a gorgeous fall day in Downtown Detroit outside Madcap Coffee. They were sipping on their Three One Three coffee and were ready to go! We started in Parker’s Alley near Shinola Hotel. The downtown area was quieter than usual due to pandemic restrictions being reinstated. The silver lining is it made their session so intimate and like all couples this year, Michaela and Todd are no strangers to adjusting to new guidelines and changes as they plan their wedding. After spending the afternoon with them though, it is clear their love for each other is at least one unwavering thing they can count on in a time full of uncertainty.

The weather graced us with a beautiful, crisp fall day with warm sunshine and in mid-November, it doesn’t get much better than that! As we adventured throughout the city, with Kygo as the soundtrack, they told me their wedding plans and that Shinola was a potential venue option. We wandered down Woodward and they told me the story of how they met and their proposal story! Todd proposed on Michaela's dream boat. It doesn't get much better than that! Michaela and Todd actually remind me a lot of me and my husband as we talked about our love languages. My husband is not a fan of cuddling just like Todd, but like Michaela, I absolutely love it! You couldn't tell from their photograph though as they're all cuddled up!

This city engagement session was perfect for them as they're heading off to Chicago shortly! These two love city life so it was the best surrounding to document their love. We cut through The Belt where they were able to practice some dance moves. Contrary to what they say, they are great dancers and totally ready for their first married dance together! We ended our session on top of the Z Lot with a champagne toast as the sun began to set. It was a beautiful ending to the day and just the beginning of a beautiful life together.

Cheers to you, Michaela and Todd!
