Since Mackenzie and James are getting married in Detroit they wanted to capture their love in some of their favorite locations downtown. We started at Parker’s Alley near Shinola Hotel, then headed over to photograph by the amazing murals in Eastern Market, and finished up our session as the sun was setting at the Detroit Riverwalk. It was the perfect ending to their engagement session!
They danced, laughed, and walked through Parker’s Alley, talking about their dream vacations and what they love about each other. Before we left for Eastern Market, they sat down near Madcap Coffee and laughed about the silliest things. It always puts a smile on my face to see my couples having fun and forgetting that I’m even there photographing them. Seriously, one of my biggest goals when documenting couples, more so than creating beautiful photographs, is making sure they feel comfortable and confident! The beauty comes from their authenticity.
Mackenzie loves the murals at Eastern Market so I brought them to some of my favorite murals in the market! She loves color so the vibrance of the murals was a perfect backdrop for them! They were goofy and having fun roaming around the market listening to their favorite country music. Before we left, they popped champagne to celebrate their engagement!
As we arrived at the Detroit Riverwalk the sun was setting and through the cloudy sky you could see an orange glow along the horizon. We walked along the river as the sun set behind the city. As the wind blew, they laughed and embraced. My hands were cold but my heart was full!
Their summer wedding at The Detroit Opera House is going to be stunning and I cannot wait to document them again on their special day!
