This Metro Detroit engagement proposal happened in a local park in Royal Oak and what was just a walk with their cute new pup turned into a surprise proposal! I want to tell you all about it. So, let's go back a few days before the proposal. Lindsey and Tyler got their new puppy, Bowie (such a cute name, right?), and when they went to pick him up, the breeder mentioned that puppies are usually engagement gifts! Now, Lindsey, being totally unaware, laughed it off. A couple of days later Tyler reached out and asked if I would be interested in documenting their proposal and I was totally in!
Before the day, we discussed all the details, how and where he would propose, timing, and how I would disguise myself in the open. The park with a wide-open landscape did not have many places to hide, so I hid my camera in a bag, put on my sunglasses, and wrapped my hair up in a ball cap. Funny enough, Lindsey thought I was just a random guy sitting on a bench!
As they were walking, Bowie, being a little pup, was tired! And Tyler, growing more and more excited, popped the question early on the other side of the park. I came prepared with my long, zoom lens so I was ready when he got down on one knee. It was such an exciting moment, I was smiling from ear to ear and I'm sure they were, too. And Lindsey was absolutely shocked! You can tell from the photographs how excited and joyful she was!
Holding Bowie, I captured a few photographs of Lindsey and Tyler with her new shining ring before they walked back home where they were greeted with friends and family to celebrate! We will be heading back out for their second engagement session where we focus just on them in Downtown Detroit and I can't wait! While I absolutely love documenting engagement sessions, I have to say that proposals hold a special place in my heart. It is an exhilarating moment to document and always a joyful experience.
