Fumina and Devin are such a sweet couple! I had so much fun getting to know them during our session and was excited to return to The Monarch Club to capture these two together in a place they visit whenever they can. After moving from Salt Lake City for Fumina's job, they've enjoyed exploring Detroit together and love The Monarch Club so when planning their engagement session it was important to incorporate all their favorite parts of the city. We started our time together in Parker's Alley, which is a vibrant alleyway popular for shopping and dining but in case you haven't stopped to read the historical marker, it also has historical ties. Parker's Alley was dedicated by The Shinola Hotel and named after one of the first African American landowners in Detroit, Thomas Parker. It also has a great ambiance and is one of my favorite places to capture couples together. I also got to meet their dog Captain, an adorable Goldendoodle who did a great job and thankfully loved the camera!
Next, we headed to The Monarch Club where Fumina and Devin got to enjoy the whole place to themselves and have a private date night. We went up to the rooftop to take in the view and pop a bottle of champagne. It was a gorgeous sunny day in Detroit and streets were buzzing with excitement as people were arriving downtown for the Elton John concert at Comerica Park. Watching the hustle and bustle of the city below while enjoying the calm quiet together on the roof was the best of both worlds, something the city of Detroit combines effortlessly. As they sipped champagne, Fumina and Devin talked about dream vacations, their honeymoon plans, and the life they look forward to building together.
