Lindsey and Tyler’s Downtown Detroit engagement session in Capitol Park Historic District was an absolute blast. It truly was an adventure as we wandered around the city with no exact “spot” to stop to take a photograph. We had originally planned to photograph at Urbanrest Brewing Co. in Ferndale and Corktown, but with some last minute changes, we headed to Capitol Park. It was so fun not to have a set location, but just to move about the city, documenting what was inspiring. Lindsey also works in Capitol Park Historic District, so she enjoyed being back in the city!
They also brought their pup, Bowie, who was obviously a blast as well! Bowie was so excited, wanting to run around and play. But he was also such a good boy and would sit perfectly for the photographs. Bowie had practice from their proposal! This little pup was by their side when Tyler got down on one knee. Just like their proposal, they were in the moment, enjoying time with each other! I love Lindsey and Tyler’s interactions and the fun-loving, tender emotion between them was heartwarming. After some fun photographs with Bowie, we headed to Dessert Oasis for some drinks, stopping in Capitol Park before we walked down towards to Detroit Riverwalk.
As we walked, we stopped and I took out my Polaroid camera. Normally, I try to grab a polaroid photo of my couples at their session, but this time I handed the camera over to Lindsey. Lindsey is also an amazingly talented photographer and I thought it would be great for her to take the photo instead. Her and Tyler nuzzled in close for the perfect selfie.
We finished up our evening chasing the sunlight and ran up to the top of the Z-Lot just before the sun set behind the buildings. It was the perfect ending to their downtown Detroit engagement session. And I cannot wait to witness their wedding next fall!
